What 2025 Ski-Doo Snowmobile is right for you?

Joe K. | 12/20/2024

When the snow comes, be ready for your jam!

Power World has all kinds of customers! From the hardcore mountain sled junkies to hard working ranchers who need sleds for winter to new riders who want to have access to the mountains in the winter. So, as the snow slowly covers the high country, it's time to get ready for your winter jam!

Let's Talk Mountain Sleds!

Look, there is more to this segment than many people understand. Shown to the right is one of the ultimate backcountry rides: an 850cc TurboR Summit X! It's just a tick over 20K before tax! Big ticket item for its big power, big track and big fun!

BUT

Too many people think the TurboR is right for them when it isn't. There are plenty of folks who use them well, but are you newer to the sport? Are you looking for less expense? Does the big power of a TurboR sled intimate you? This is a great sled, but you can explore all of the backcountry without this power or this expense!

Naturally Aspirated Sleds are the bomb too!

How about a great handling Summit 600 Etec? We have a couple 24 models left over that are priced right around the 12K mark! A new sled with factory warranty at that price is a great way into sledding! I rode one a bunch of miles last year! I can't describe how much I like these sleds!

The Best all round Mountain Sled:
The Ski Doo 850 Summit!

Look ladies and gentlemen, the best all round mountain sled in the business is still a Ski Doo Summit. There is the Summit Adrenaline and the Adrenaline with Edge Package. The edge is a little more focused on pure off-trail adventure, but both are remarkably good powder sleds! Power World has a full selection of 2025 Summits -- and they are really good!

Why is the 850 Summit the best all rounder?

Well, no matter what you want to do, it can do it. Yes, a TurboR engine rips up the deepest of powder better and the 600 etec Summit is a smile per mile king when you keep it pinned all day long, but the non-Turbo 850 summit does everything pretty danged well and doesn't wear you out from too much power like a TurboR or from fully pinned all day fun like the 600! There is a good reason it's the most popular mountain sled in the Mountain State!

What sleds do people you know ride?

My group of riding friends are all on Summits of some sort. Young guy Garrison who just started riding last year is on a really good Gen4 Summit, my main man Kyle is on a 2024 Summit X, Good Ol' Dave Pickert rides a Summit X w/expert pkg Turbo w/175' track, my pretty wife rides a 2025 Summit X and I am on my all time fave sled (3rd one) -- a 2025 Summit X w/Expert in 154" track (no Turbsky for me)!

We spend as little time on trail as possible!!

Because my group does everything possible to get off the trail as soon as possible and stay off as long as possilbe, we are all on some form of Summit! Many mountain shops don't even order crossover sleds although they have a bunch of customers who would enjoy the benefit of them a great deal.

What benefits? Well, how about a windshield? Pretend you are taking yourself and your significant other on your first ever snowmobile excursion. You get up to a beautiful scenic mountain, enjoy a picnic and start back in the latter part of the afternoon. Here comes a windstorm that is really cold (ever ridden up around Saratoga, WY?). Windshield or no windshield?

"Then why do summits come without any windshield?" you wisely as your sales guy? "Well it's because you might need to roll the sled over to get unstuck on a sidehill of course, and you don't want to break a winshield" he replies. Gauge your answer! Are you thinking you ain't gonna be sidehilling no steep and deep my man? Or are you thinking, sick, that is just what I need when I'm out in the steep and deep. Those different answers suggest different sleds!

Remember, just because we are in a great backcountry sledding area doesn't mean there are no trails to burn up with a crossover sled. Lots of trail miles exist at Church Park, Grand Lake, Corona Pass, Rabbit Ears and so many more! Not everyone needs a hardcore mountain sled and some folks who buy them wish they'd chosen something else!

But also remember this!

If you are looking for the best Mountain Sled from the guys and gals who really ride, there is nothing better than a Ski Doo Summit from Power World!!

Summit Adrenaline: the base of this greatness
Summit Adrenaline with Edge Pkg: designed for even more off-trail greatness!
Summit X: lightest feeling of all mountain sleds!
Summit X w/xpert Pkg: suggested for strong riders who demand high performing chassis in the steep and deep!

Want more juice? Just add TurboR engine!!
Want Totally Uniqe? Look at the Lynx line up!

See our full line-up of in-stock sleds here!

Dominate the Snow with Ski-Doo

Joe K. | 12/10/2024

Dominate the Snow with Ski-Doo!

For a long, long time, Ski Doo has lead the sled market in regard to product development. And they still do. There is a Ski Doo on our showroom that suits your needs because of Ski Doo's continual pursuit of an excellent sled.

Ski-Doo Backcountry

Offered in a 146" track with 2" lug, this Etec-motor-equipped Backcountry is a better option for most people than most people understand! It's not the best sled for the super deep, but it's an amazingly well-rounded machine for those who want to play on and off trail! Much more trail comfort without sacrificing your ability to play in the Powder!

Ski Doo Expedition Sport 900

This sled is becoming a real favorite among those who want to get out in all conditions, but aren't hardcore off trail warriors. We sell them to backcountry skiiers, families who want to explore the mountains with some wind protection and a variety of other folks. It's an amazingly capable all-rounder with a four stroke motor and affordable price-tag!

One of Ski Doo's strengths is its willingness to create unique models that are capable of meeting broad purposes! The two below are among that type of sled. The first one, a 3/4 sized summit with a good running 600cc EFI two stroke, is great for smaller people and new-to-sledding folk. And the second one is my budget-minded fave! The Backcountry Sport EFI 600 has a track that can handle powder, a bit wider front end to create stablility and a small windshield for protection from weather. It's feels light and easy to handle!

And then there are the mountain sleds!

Now the Ski-Doo Mountain Sleds are the stuff! Whether you like a Turbo 850, a sweet running 600 Summit Etec or the venerable NA 850 Summit or Freeride, the Mountain Sleds coming from Ski-Doo are magically good -- PURE MAGIC!!

Do you Really Need a Ski-Doo Turbo?

Joe K. | 12/07/2024

Power World University: 101 Sledding Course!

Hey all you sledders! Everyone knows how cool the Ski-Doo 850 TurboR sleds really are! But they are not only NOT the best option for many, but they are a bad option for many as well!

How do you figure out how YOU will have the most fun? Start with honesty. Where do you ride? We have some customers who can get from their houses to the Winter Park Ski Resort and use trail type, four-stroke sleds like the little Renegade Sport. And, I can't tell you how often we've made a non-turbo summit a trail sled for people who NEVER use it off trail -- all the while with the option for a quiet, less expensive and better set up sled for their use at their finger tips!

Let me give you another example! A couple comes in who want to enjoy more time in the mountains. Why not sleds? One is a gung ho, athletic type who likes a little adrenaline, while the other would be happy to see the local Mountain scenery -- just to experience the truly epic winter wonderland that these mountains become! These are different type of sled people. Remember the little Backcoutry 600 EFI? It has a really good off-trail chassis, the pDrive clutch and a 146" track -- that's the scenery junkies best option, while the adrelaline seeking partner should be looking at a Summit with a 600 or 850 Etec motor, so they can get off trail as far as they please! The person who wants a relaxed, groomed trail experience won't keep going if their sled has no wind protection, feels tippy on a trail  and overheats easier in hardpack conditions!

Finally, folks, there are some sleds that can do both on-trail and off-trail pretty darned well. The Ski-Doo Backcountry Etec with a 146" track and 2" lugs give folks a really good trail option sled, because of its slightly wider ski stance and windshield, as well as a very cable off-trail sled, because of its 146" length track, longer lugs and powerful etec motor. The backcountry sleds with the 600cc and 850cc Etec engine options are high performing crossovers that a lot of people would find the PERFECT dance partner!

Fun's out there; chase it down!

What is the Best Snowmobile for You

Joe K. | 11/19/2024

What Kind of Sled Do You Really Need?

Man, this is a million dollar question. Why? Because the right sled gives you the most joy. It's like your significant other. If you are a good fit with him/her, you spend more time together. Isn't that what we all want with our snowmobiles? I do!

Below are some of the mountain sleds we sell and a what makes each one a great snowmobile!

Summit Adrenaline: Great Mtn Sled that is still a good all rounder. Comes with a snowflap, so it keeps a little cooler than a pure mtn package without snowflap. Who is it good for? Well, it's a really good mountain sled at the best starting price of mountain sleds, so it's a good option for people who want a highly capable mountain sled without quite the expense of the even more mountain focused Edge, X, Expert or Freeride.

Summit Adrenaline w/Edge Package: Close to the standard Summit Adrelaline with less concern for the trail to the good stuff! Why? Well it's got a 34" front end instead of a 36" -- more tippy on trail, easier to tip in powder. It has a short tunnel/long track design -- more easily pushes deep snow out of the tunnel without a snowflap and more easy to overheats on a trail without a snowflap.

Summit X: Oh man, this one is a crowd favorite! It's like the Edge with better suspension, adjustable limiter strap, lower bars and different color options. It's really the lightest, easiest handling of all the off-trail Doos. Probably the best choice for the most people who want the best backcountry experience. It is available in Turbo or non-Turbo, and that's a real discussion to have as well. More power isn't better for everyone, and the NA version of the X is still a comparably affordable way into a badass off trail sled while the Turbo costs a few K more!

Summit X w/Expert Package: My fave for a couple years now has been the NA version of the expert. But, it takes a bit more effort to plant in a sidehill or turn in technical conditions -- super planted when you do though. It has a rigid track, creating a bit of that extra effort requirement, and a bit stiffer suspension than an X. Also available in Turbo and non-Turbo.

Freeride: Well, I've thought about this one a lot. It just looks agressive and fun. Best suspension of the bunch for dropping big ledges, hitting obstacles hard and overall hooliganism! You need a little attitude with this badassery between your legs! Turbo for the super crazy available; non-turbo available for the average crazy!

Well good people, you see you have some options and all are great Ski-Doo Snowmobiles. And I have loved some sleds and motorcycles in my life that I couldn't ride quite as well as others. We sometimes forget that a grin from the Turbo noise makes some people more happy than a re-entry, or a straight line rip down a long meadow is more heart-stopping than a steep sidehill to others. Just have your fun, but spend some time chatting with me when you buy. I love getting people on the best "fun-factor" sleds for them, not me. Although I'm always happy to share which is my favorite and why! I don't just sell snowmobiles, I ride them all winter long and have for more years that I can count.  My wife and I ride every weekend once the snow gets good and we want as many of our customers out enjoying what makes Colorado so great.  See you out there!

Joe K. | 11/14/2024

A-arm season: Worth it or not!!

Many or most of the sledders reading this have at least bent an A-arm, right? Depending on the extent of damage, it can be expensive and time-consuming too. If you're lucky, it's not too much in parts and a simple old to new swap. Regardless, sleds can be expensive!

Am I saying don't ride? Hell no. It's so fun to start finding a little snow and get your trusty sled out exploring! You know there are some hidden landmines, but ride it that-a-way and you can have a pretty good day out there! There is so much from which to choose when it comes to new Ski-Doo Snowmobiles! And they can be affordable! $11,828.25 plus tax only can get you this super cool little 4-stroke trail hopper! The 2025 Renegade Sport is a useful and easy to operate sled for a lot of people!

The Experience is a Gift

Joe K. | 11/05/2024

The Experience is a Gift

Man, I was speaking with a friend and customer who bought a new 2025 Ski-Doo Spring Check from Power World this year. While picking it up last week, he mentioned that he liked sharing the experience with his family and friends. Like WOW, that's my passion! I mean, all this stuff is cool, but part of that cool comes from the memories it brings. Then, a couple days later my oldest moto friend/mentor shared that he was fighting Cancer ("we'll run this race," he said), and the "experience" seemed even more meaningful. He's got a good shot at recovery by the way, in spite of being in his early 80s, but regardless of what happens, he brought a life-long joy to me through experiencing it with him -- yes, on cool motorcycles, but with a great friend! The power in power sports is the experience!

I also know that those experiences cost more and more money, and the cost of inflation makes buying new and sometimes used pretty hard for some very hard working people. If we can help you keep an older machine running -- through parts, service or advice -- we really are here to provide a chance to experience what has brought a lot of joy to all of us at Power World.

So, when and if you can, come join us for a weekend ride, whether it's snow, moto, offroad or even bicycling -- at Power World, fun's out there, chase it down!

While the snow may be flying, you can ride dirt year round in the desert.  Now is also the time to check out steep end of season discounts on all Husqvarna motorcycles.  There are great rebates on Husqvarna FE models, including FE450, FE350s, FE350w and FE501w.  Give us a call and give yourself an early Christmas present!

Have You Looked at the New 2025 Ski-Doo Snowmobiles

Joe K. | 11/01/2024

Have You Looked at the New Doos?

Hey family and friends, have you seen these new Ski Doo snowmobiles in 2025? They are simply amazing tools for the winter! Tools for fun, for adventure, for access to hard to reach areas and so much more. For me, they are truly as fun as things get. My wife and I are excited to get out on our new X and X w/expert package this season.

But it is a real commitment too! Have you all checked on your hyfax wear, your carbides, chain case oil integrity, battery life, etc? Schedule your pre-season snowmobile service to make sure your ready to ride when the snow flies.  That expensive sled will last a lot longer if you are giving it some love! Protect it even more by extending warranty if you have some left to purchase. Power World used to offer both factory and after-market warranties, but now we are set on BRP factory extended warranties! Why? Well, our experience with after-market warranties 100% of the time is that for expensive fixes (when a warranty really comes in handy) the after-market companies drag their feet. Don't get me wrong, we end up getting the job covered by the warranty, but if it takes literally 6 months to get it all done, that isn't very satisfying to us or you! That strains our relationship! BRP warranties are much more customer focused and friendly. That makes us all more happy!

When you do commit, as many of you reading this have in the past, present and intend to in the future, there is a lot of reward. These new machines are so capable. Hard to start? Practically never. Break downs out in the mountains? Super rare (avoid trees and rocks of course!). Fouled plugs? What is that? And on and on.

And they offer a whole new level of performance! The 850 Etec engine has redefined the sport in many ways. It's the heartbeat of most of Ski Doo performance sleds, along with its little sibling 600 Etec, which was secretly, now publicly, my fave!! Surprised by that? It's like riding a 125 MX bike -- full on throttle all the time.

Check These Out

2025 Ski Doo Summit X w/ Expert Pkg

154" Track, Summit X w/ Expert package, standard screen, TurboR power!
$21,349.00 plus tax only!

The 2025 Freeride!

This bad boy is made for the hardcore rider! You a hooligan? This is your sled!

We have 154" track and 165" track Freerides with and without the big Screen and with or without TurboR power!

All of the premium packages are here at Power World!

Which do you want? Well, the Freeride is for hammering the backcountry -- Stiffer suspension, agressive steering and totally ready to be hardcore rowdy! The Summit X w/ Expert handles technical terrain like no other but likes to do it with speed and confidence. And then there is the Summit X, with the lightest feel and least effort to do it all -- probably the best overall sled for the most people!

They are all amazing, and they are all fun. Overall, they are similar but have some differences that make them suited better for some than others!
